භෞතික සංවර්ධනයට වඩා ආධ්‍යාත්මික සංවර්ධනයයි රටකට වැදගත් – අගමැති ආචාර්ය හරිනි අමරසූරිය කළුතරදී පවසයි

රටක කොතරම් භෞතික සංවර්ධන ව්‍යාපෘති ක්‍රියාත්මක වුවද, සැබෑ දියුණුව මනිනු ලබන්නේ ජනතාවගේ ගුණධර්ම, හික්මීම සහ ආධ්‍යාත්මික වර්ධනය මත බව අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය ආචාර්ය හරිනි අමරසූරිය මහත්මිය අවධාරණය කළාය.

අග්‍රාමාත්‍යතුමිය මේ බව සඳහන් කළේ කළුතර දකුණ, රෙමුණගොඩ කෝන්ගොඩ ශ්‍රී ගංගාරාම පුරාණ මහා විහාරස්ථානයේ අභිනවයෙන් ඉදිකරන ලද ලෝහමය සමාධි බුද්ධ ප්‍රතිමා වහන්සේ නිරාවරණය කිරීමේ මහෝත්සවයට පසුගිය ජූලි 28 වන දින එක්වෙමිනි.

ප්‍රදේශයේ ජනතාව සතුව පැවති ලෝහ එකතු කර නිර්මාණය කරන ලද මෙම කලාත්මක ලෝහමය සමාධි බුද්ධ ප්‍රතිමා වහන්සේ නිරාවරණය කිරීම, බෙන්තර වල්ලල්ලාවිට කෝරළයේ ප්‍රධාන සංඝනායක, අතිපූජ්‍ය මලේගොඩ නන්ද නායක ස්වාමීන්වහන්සේගේ අතිඅත්තිවලින් සිදු කෙරිණි. අනතුරුව අග්‍රාමාත්‍යතුමිය බුද්ධ ප්‍රතිමා වහන්සේ උදෙසා මල් වට්ටියක් පූජා කරමින් ආගමික වතාවත්වල නිරත වූවාය.

මෙහිදී වැඩිදුරටත් අදහස් දැක්වූ අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය ආචාර්ය හරිනි අමරසූරිය මහත්මිය මෙසේද පැවසුවාය:

“වර්තමාන වේගවත් හා සංකීර්ණ සමාජ වටපිටාව තුළ අපේ ජනතාවගේ සිත්වලට වඩාත්ම අවශ්‍ය කරන්නේ සංයමය සහ ආධ්‍යාත්මික සැනසීමයි. ඓතිහාසික කෝන්ගොඩ ශ්‍රී ගංගාරාම විහාරස්ථානයේදී මෙම ප්‍රතිමාව නිරාවරණය වීම සමස්ත ප්‍රදේශයේම බෞද්ධ ජනතාවගේ ආධ්‍යාත්මික සුවය උදෙසා සිදුවන අතිමහත් මෙහෙවරක් ලෙස මම දකිනවා.”

රටක ඓතිහාසික, ආගමික සහ සංස්කෘතික උරුමයන් සුරක්ෂිත කිරීම රජයේ වගකීමක් බව පෙන්වා දුන් අගමැතිවරිය, බුද්ධ ශාසන අමාත්‍යංශය සහ මධ්‍යම සංස්කෘතික අරමුදල හරහා දිවයින පුරා පෞරාණික විහාරස්ථානවල බිතුසිතුවම්, ශිලා ලේඛන සහ චෛත්‍ය සංරක්ෂණය කිරීමට මෙන්ම දුෂ්කර ග්‍රාමීය විහාරස්ථානවල යටිතල පහසුකම් නංවාලීමට පුළුල් වැඩපිළිවෙළක් ක්‍රියාත්මක කර ඇති බව කියා සිටියාය.

විහාරස්ථාන රැකගැනීම යනු හුදෙක් ගොඩනැගිලි නඩත්තු කිරීමක් නොව, ජාතික අනන්‍යතාවය සහ සදාචාරාත්මක පදනම අනාගත පරපුරට දායාද කිරීමක් බවත්, ගුණධර්මවලින් පෝෂණය වූ නිදහස් හා සාධාරණ ශ්‍රී ලාංකේය සමාජයක් ගොඩනැගීම රජයේ අරමුණ බවත් ඇය වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළාය.

මෙම උත්සව අවස්ථාව සඳහා ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර කෝට්ටේ කල්‍යාණි ධර්ම මහා සංඝසභාවේ අනුනායක අතිපූජ්‍ය මකුරුප්පේ සෝමාලංකාර ස්වාමින් වහන්සේ, විහාරාධිකාරී ශාස්ත්‍රපති පූජ්‍ය අතුරලියේ සෝමානන්ද ස්වාමීන් වහන්සේ ඇතුළු මහා සංඝරත්නයද, පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රීවරුන් වන සංජීව රණසිංහ, නන්දන පුෂ්පකුමාර යන මහත්වරුන් ඇතුළු රාජ්‍ය නිලධාරීන් සහ ප්‍රදේශවාසී විශාල පිරිසක් සහභාගී වූහ

Spiritual Development is More Important Than Physical Development – Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya States in Kalutara

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya emphasized that regardless of the extent of physical development, the true progress of a country is measured by the moral values, discipline, and spiritual growth of its people.

The Prime Minister made these remarks while participating in the unveiling ceremony of the newly constructed metallic Samadhi Buddha statue at the historic Kongoda Sri Gangaramaya Ancient Maha Viharaya in Remunagoda, Kalutara South, on July 28.

The unveiling of the artistic metallic Samadhi Buddha statue, crafted using metals contributed by the local community, was performed by Ven. Malelegoda Nanda Nayaka Thero, the Chief Sangha Nayaka of Bentota-Walallawita Korale and Chief Prelate of the Malegoda Sri Pushparama Maha Vihara Chapter. Following the unveiling, the Prime Minister engaged in religious observances by offering a tray of flowers to the Buddha statue.

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya further stated:

“In today’s fast-paced and complex social environment, what our people’s minds need the most is restraint and spiritual solace. I view the unveiling of this metallic Samadhi Buddha statue at the historic Kongoda Sri Gangaramaya Temple as a monumental service towards the spiritual well-being of the Buddhist community in the entire region.”

Highlighting that safeguarding historical, religious, and cultural heritage is a responsibility of the government, the Prime Minister noted that a comprehensive program is currently being implemented through the Ministry of Buddha Sasana and the Central Cultural Fund to preserve ancient murals, inscriptions, and stupas across the island, as well as to uplift the infrastructure of remote rural temples.

She further stated that preserving temples is not merely maintaining buildings, but rather handing down our national identity and moral foundation to future generations. Building a Sri Lankan society nurtured by both physical resources and moral values—free, fair, and harmonious—remains a primary objective of the government.

The event was graced by the presence of the Maha Sangha, including Ven. Makuruppe Somalankara Thero, the Deputy Sangha Nayaka of the Kotte Kalyani Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha, and Ven. Athuraliye Somananda Thero, the Viharadhikari of the temple. Members of Parliament Sanjeewa Ranasinghe and Nandana Pushpakumara, along with state officials, members of the temple’s lay committee, and a large gathering of local residents, were also in attendance.
