“2023 අංක 9 දරන දූෂණ විරෝධී පනත කියන්නේ ඉතාමත් බලවත් නීති රාමුවක්. පාර්ලිමේන්තුව මේ බලතල අපට දීලා තියෙන්නේ ක්රියාත්මක කරන්න මිසක් බල්ලාට දාන්න නෙවෙයි. අපි කවරදාකවත් ඒ සීමාවලින්පිටත ගිහින් නෑ,” යැයි ඔහු අවධාරණය කළේය.
වරදක් සිදුවූ පසු නඩු දැමීමට වඩා වැදගත් වන්නේ වරදක් සිදුවීමට පෙර සමාජය නිවැරදි කිරීම බව පෙන්වා දුන් ඒ මහතා, කොමිෂන් සභාව යනු කිසිදු දේශපාලන බලපෑමකට යටත් නොවන සියයට සියයක්ම ස්වාධීන ආයතනයක් බවද කියා සිටියේය. ලැබෙන සියලු පැමිණිලි සම්බන්ධයෙන් කිසිදු භේදයකින් තොරව විමර්ශන පවත්වන බවද ඔහු තවදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය.

Rejecting allegations of arbitrary and biased behavior outright, the Director-General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), Mr. Ranga Dissanayake, stated that he is merely executing the legal powers vested in him by Parliament.
He made these sharp remarks responding directly to media queries asking, “Is the law being enforced against those connected to the government as well?”
“The Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023 is an immensely powerful legal framework. Parliament didn’t grant us these powers to keep them idle; we are mandated to enforce them actively. We have never stepped beyond our legal boundaries,” he emphasized.
Stressing that building a corruption-free preventive mindset is far more vital than post-crime prosecutions, Mr. Dissanayake declared that the Bribery Commission remains a 100% independent institution completely free from any government interference, ensuring impartial investigations into every single complaint received.
