ලිපිය නැතුව දින සීයත් පහුවෙලා ?  මිනි අලුකුටි ආයේ දෙන්නේ අපි මැරුණාමද?

මොරටුව නගර සභාව මගින් පාලනය වන රාවතාවත්ත පොදු සුසාන භූමියේ තාප්පය අබලන්ව පැවතීම හේතුවෙන්, එහි තිබූ අලුකුටි 2026 මාර්තු 26 දිනට පෙර ඉවත් කරගන්නා මෙන් නාගරික ගණකාධිකාරී (ආදායම්) විසින් එම පිරිසට දන්වා තිබුණි.

නමුදු, එම අලුකුටි මුදල් ගෙවා වෙන්කර ගත් ඒවා වන බැවින් ද එසෙ මිනි අලු නිවෙස් හි තබා ගැනීම විශ්වාසයන් අනුව සිදු නොකරනා බැවින් ද, නැවත ඒ වෙනුවෙන් වෙනත් අලුකුටියක් ලැබෙනවාද යන්න දුරකතනයෙන් සහ ඊමේල් මගින් විමසා සිටියද, එයට කිසිදු පිළිතුරක් ලැබී නැත.

මේ පිළිබඳව පුරවැසියන් විසින් 2026 අප්‍රේල් 02 දින මොරටුව නගර සභා මහ සභාවේදී විපක්ෂ මන්ත්‍රීවරුන් මාර්ගයෙන් ප්‍රශ්න කරන ලදී.

මෙහිදී, යොමු කරන ලද එම ලිපියෙන් ඉදිරි ක්‍රියාමාර්ග පිළිබඳ විස්තර ඇතුළත් නොවීම හේතුවෙන් අඩුවක් සිදුව ඇති බව ප්‍රකාශ කළ නගරාධිපති නිශාන්ත ප්‍රදිනාන්දු මහතා, එම අයිතිය සුරක්ෂිත කරන බව සපත කරමින් ඉතා ඉක්මනින් එය නිවැරදි කර අදාළ පාර්ශ්ව වෙත තවත් ලිපියක් යොමු කරනා බවට පොරොන්දු විය.

නමුදු, නගරාධිපතිවරයා එසේ පොරොන්දු වී දින සියයකට අධික කාලයක් ගතවී ඇතත්, මේ දක්වා එවැනි ලිපියක් කිසිවකුටත් ලැබී නැති බව පැවසේ.

මොරටුව නගර සභාවේ එම වගකීම් විරහිත නිලධාරීන්ට, නගරාධිපතිවරයාගේ පොරොන්දුව ප්‍රකාර එවැනි ලිපියක් යැවීමට පවා දින සියයක් මදිදැයි එනිසා අසරණ වී සිටින ජනතාව ප්‍රශ්න කරති.

මෙහිදී, මෙතෙක් එම අලුකුටිවලට හිමිකම් කිවූ පිරිස් එම මිනි අලු නිවෙස්වල තබා ගනිමින් පත්ව ඇති අපහසුතාවය වටහා නොගනිමින් ක්‍රියා කරන මෙම නිලධාරීන් පිළිබඳව තම කණගාටුව මෙන්ම කෝපයද පුරෝගාමියා වෙත මෙසේ ප්‍රකාශ කලේය .

Over 100 days without the letter? Are we going to get the niches back only after we die?

Due to the dilapidated condition of the boundary wall at the Rawathwatta Public Cemetery governed by the Moratuwa Municipal Council, the Municipal Accountant (Revenue) had notified the affected individuals to remove their columbarium niches (alu-kuti) before March 26, 2026.

However, since these niches were officially reserved by paying money—and keeping human ashes at home is not practiced due to cultural and personal beliefs—citizens inquired via telephone and email whether replacement niches would be provided. Having received no response to those inquiries, the citizens raised the issue through opposition members at the Moratuwa Municipal Council general meeting on April 02, 2026.

Acknowledging that the initial notice lacked details regarding future actions, Mayor Nishantha Ferdinando promised to rectify the oversight, guarantee their rights, and promptly issue a revised letter to the affected parties.

Nevertheless, although more than a hundred days have passed since the Mayor’s promise, no such letter has been received by anyone to date. Distressed citizens are now questioning whether a hundred days are still not enough for the irresponsible officials of the Moratuwa Municipal Council to send a simple letter as promised by the Mayor.

Failing to understand the immense difficulty and distress faced by the families who are forced to keep the ashes of their loved ones at home, the affected public expressed not only their deep regret but also their utmost anger to ‘Prowagamia’ regarding the behavior of these officials.
